We had a large basement conversion, the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Nigel and his team were simply fantastic. Punctual and communicated clearly throughout every stage of the project. I contacted Nigel about converting my damp cellar into a dry usable utility room. He was fantastic from the very beginning. Very knowledgeable and talked me through every stage. Nigel is clearly a man who knows what he is doing, and the quality of his workmanship is outstanding. He expertly transformed our damp, complicated, and difficult cellar space into a fantastically light and spacious living and work room. Nigel project managed the whole process, co-ordinating with his trusted team of builders, plumbers, electricians and plasterer, making the whole project remarkably stress-free. We had an issue with water coming into the house and spreading underneath the floating floor (creating mould) with the flooring rotting in places. Nigel was brilliant! He installed some land drains outside, then stripped the whole of the ground floor out (back to concrete) in order to find the source of the water. Once that source was dealt with (including a new layer of concrete) he re-installed the floating floor (including a waterproof membrane and insulation) as well as new doors, architraves, and skirting. He project managed the whole thing, and all of the other trades he brought in (plumber, electrician, plasterer, kitchen fitter, screed pour etc) were excellent too. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Many thanks for all your help Nigel!

Nigel has just completed the damp proofing conversion of two large basement rooms in our house. The transformation is amazing and what was a damp and dirty cellar is now two usable rooms. Nigel has been so helpful throughout the whole process, making sure we were informed of what was happening at every stage and making sure we were compliant with regulations. Nigel carried out our cellar conversation last year.
The cellar had become unusable as well as uninviting.
Following Nigel’s engagement in early July our cellar was converted into a most amazing space that is now inconstant use.
Nigel worked efficiently and to an agreed programme which was completed on time and to the agreed budget.
Nigel adhered to the sympathetic architectural detailing and his quality of workmanship was outstanding.
His knowledge and competency in his field of expertise is second to none.
He was punctual, courteous, extremely tidy and very responsive to the detailed finishes requested.
As some reviews state - he does go over and beyond to deliver.
Having worked in construction for 40 years I have no hesitation recommending Nigel (Stonedrdry- Bespoke renovations) to anyone who wishes to transform their cellar or basement. ~ even if you have to wait for his availability! His costs are reasonable and fair and probably better value than you would appreciate at the end of the project.

It's now two years since Nigel and his team converted our damp cellar into a lovely fresh, dry and clean utility room. I recall the experience of having Nigel and his team being an exceptionally good one. Nigel is very professional, his work is of a high standard and the whole process went ahead in a very logical and straightforward manner.

I now have my washing machine in my basement which has facilitated the space to have a dishwasher in my kitchen without having to remove precious cupboard space.

“Fantastic! We had three people come to give us a quote to convert our damp and smelly basement. Nigel was easily the most impressive: friendly, knowledgeable and straight-talking. He also happened to be the cheapest.

Communication was genial, clear and prompt. I leaned on Nigel when we had problems with Yorkshire Water and he was both helpful and patient. Every other contractor arranged through Nigel – plumbers, electricians etc – were top quality and professional.

Most importantly, we now have a room we can use, finished to a really high standard. I couldn’t be happier with the work completed.”

The Stone Dry service and system is reliable and borne of over a decade of experience identifying and successfully tackling basement conversion problems. Advice at the planning and execution stages is spot-on. For example, I equivocated upon whether to opt for a sump and pump system. It added to the tally and I felt that we could get away without it. Ultimately, happy to say that the recommendation to fit such a system was heeded and it has been required. There is no substitute for someone with the hands-on experience to make these sorts of calls as the project develops. To go my way and save circa £5000 would have been disastrous. The conversion project ran to time, there is huge benefit in having a one-stop shop and the aftercare following completion of the job is worthy of especial note. You will not find Stone Dry failing to respond to queries and issues once the bill is long since paid.

After finding a huge 2 metre deep, water filled, sump under the cellar floor they set about working out how to solve the problem. After bit of investigation, and applying years of experience of waterlogged basements, within a few days the hole was filled in, water ingress diverted and covered with a new concrete floor. I was hugely impressed with their professionalism, and their communication is excellent, keeping you informed every step of the way. When they say they will be there, they are there, and the work ethic of the team and their workmanship is first class. The quality of work and the standard of finishing is exceptional.
